NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will take their first trip of the season as they head to the West Coast to take part in the San Jose State Invitational. The Privateers will play the host Spartans on Sunday to close the weekend. They will also play UC-Riverside on Friday and Pacific on Saturday.
 
The Privateers' contest against San Jose State will be broadcast on Mountain West Plus at 5 p.m. CST.
 
LSU New Orleans went 1-2 in the opening weekend as they co-hosted the LSU New Orleans-Nicholls Challenge. The Privateers swept Alcorn State to open the season. They finished the weekend on the short end of a five-set battle against Oral Roberts.
 
Armie Hall recorded 20 kills in her first collegiate match and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The true freshman racked up 41 kills on the tournament and registered a hitting percentage of .378.
 
Mia Lopez earned Libero of the Tournament honors after recording the most digs of anyone in the five-team tournament. Lopez had 55 total digs and reached double digits in each match. The true freshman libero had 19 digs in her collegiate debut against Alcorn State and 20 digs against Oral Roberts.
 
The Privateers recorded the second highest attack percentage of any team in the Southland through the first weekend of the season. Only East Texas A&M had a higher attack percentage through the first batch of matches.
 
The Privateers will be playing Pacific and San Jose State for the first time in program history. LSU New Orleans has played UC-Riverside twice. The Highlanders have won both meetings in 2021 and 2024.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
UC-Riverside split the opening weekend with a win against Samford and a loss to Alabama in the Crimson Tide Invitational. Andrea Brewer led the Highlanders in kills with 23 in the opening weekend. Misu Nguyen had 29 digs over the first two matches.
 
Pacific (2-1) defeated Gonzaga and Southern Utah after their season opening loss against California. The Tigers are under the direction of Jeff Hendershot, an alumnus of Pacific who comes over after six seasons at D-III La Verne.
 
San Jose State (1-2) closed out their first weekend with a 3-0 win over San Francisco. The Spartans had four players with over 20 kills in the opening weekend. Tatiana Robinson led the Spartans' attack with 30 kills and hit .407. Zuzana Kosikova followed with 29 kills.

ABOUT LSU NEW ORLEANS
