FINAL RESULTS (CLIPPD SCOREBOARD | JOIN THE PRIVATEER LINKS CLUB

NEW ORLEANS - LSU New Orleans golf opened the season with a 14^th place finish at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic on Wednesday afternoon. The Privateers used rounds of 295, 306 and 300 to finish with a score of 901.

Baron Vollmer got his collegiate career off to a solid start with an even par opening round on Monday morning. The freshman from Gulf Shores used three birdies late in the round to finish with an opening round score of 70. Rounds of 71 and 75 left him with a 54-hole total of 216. He made nine birdies and 32 pars to lead the Privateers in both categories on his debut.

Fellow Privateer newcomer Ben Blanco also got his career on the Lakefront off to a solid start with an even par round on Monday. Blanco started with a birdie on his opening hole, before making three birdies in his last four to also finish his first round with a score of 70. Rounds of 80 over the next two days left the sophomore tied for 76^th with a score of 230.

Senior Matthew Lotz improved each time out during his 54 holes at Raven Golf Club.  After shooting an 80 on Monday, he shot a 77 on Tuesday and a 73 on Wednesday to finish with a total of 230 tying him with Blanco for 76th place.

Jude Bourque finished tied for 73^rd with a score of 229, and Adam Trahan finished 79^th with a score of 242. Bourque improved by one stroke on his score on the same course last season. Like Lotz, Trahan improved each round out going from an 84 in round one, to an 81 in round two, to a 77 in round three.

Mercer and West Florida tied for the team championship with scores of 838. West Florida's Hector Arriaga - playing as an independent - took home the individual crown with a score of 200.

The Privateers return to the course in 11 days on Sept. 27 when they travel to Squire Creek Country Club in Ruston, La. for the Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech.
