MATHEWS – LSU New Orleans youngsters Baron Vollmer, Fynn Wanke and Ben Blanco all finished inside the top 30 as the Privateers wrapped up their fall season Tuesday afternoon at the LaTOUR Intercollegiate.

Vollmer picked up the first top-15 finish of his career after rounds of 68, 72 and 77 left the freshman with a score of 217 — one shy of the 216 he shot in the Sandestin Collegiate Classic. His opening 3-under-par round was the first round under 70 of his career and featured seven of his 10 birdies at LaTOUR.

Fellow freshman Wanke and sophomore Blanco both finished tied for 27th with scores of 224. Wanke's best 18 was an even-par 71 during the second round. It featured a stretch of two birdies followed by a long eagle putt from the fringe.

Blanco's first career round under par came during the second round, which featured six of his team- and career-high 11 birdies.

Jude Bourque finished tied for 37th with a score of 226. Like Wanke, Bourque had an eagle on hole No. 13, with the Lafayette native's coming during Monday's opening round. Taylor Boasberg finished tied for 40th with a score of 288. He finished with nine birdies.

East Texas A&M coasted to the team championship with a score of 846 after an opening round that placed the Lions 11 under par. ETAM's Daniel Ferguson led the tournament from start to finish, taking home the individual championship with a 6-under-par total of 207.

The conclusion of the third round wrapped up the fall season for LSU New Orleans golf. The Privateers finished the fall with a scoring average of 299.9. They finished with a 9-41 (.180) record, including a 0-13 mark against Southland teams.

The spring season begins Tuesday, Feb. 23, when the Privateers host the Big Easy Match Play at English Turn in Algiers, La.
