Women's Basketball Concludes SEC Gauntlet at Texas A&M

NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers will conclude their opening week against SEC opponents on Saturday when they head to College Station to face the Texas A&M Aggies. Tip is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Privateers (0-2) have lost to Arkansas and Alabama within their first three days of competition. In their last game against the Crimson Tide, LSU New Orleans hauled in 45 rebounds including 18 offensive boards.

LSU New Orleans is also halfway through a six-game opening road stretch that will conclude before the Privateers play their home opener against West Alabama on Nov. 24.

Rhian Comery has scored 32 points over her first two games. Her 19 points in the season opener were the most by a freshman in their Privateer debut since Jada Frazier scored 23 against Centenary in the 2005-06 season opener.

This season marks the first time the Privateers have played three straight current power four conference members since 2004. That year, LSU New Orleans had an early December stretch where they faced Ole Miss, Auburn and Florida State.

Gabby Edo, who was second in the NJCAA in blocks last year, had three rejections in the game against Alabama. She also led the team in rebounds with eight and added two assists in 28 minutes.

The Privateers have only played one game against Texas A&M in their program's history. The Aggies beat LSU New Orleans in December 2007.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Texas A&M moved to 2-0 on the season when they defeated the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 62-51 on Thursday night. Emerald Parker and Kailyn Gilbert combined for 39 points in the victory. The Aggies returned nine players from a roster that went 14-13 overall and 7-9 in SEC play last season. They lost to McNeese in the opening round of the WBIT.

The transition marks a return to the LSU family for the University - a place it called home from 1958-2011. Athletic teams will remain the Privateers and continue to compete in the Southland Conference.
