NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team has brought on Annalicia Goodman to the staff to serve as the team's new Director of Operations and assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
 
Goodman comes to the Privateers from James Madison where she served as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff after a four-year playing career with the Dukes. Last season, Goodman was part of a staff that went 26-9, hoisted the Sun Belt postseason championship and made their 14^th NCAA Tournament in school history.
 
"I'm honored to join the LSU New Orleans women's basketball program," said Goodman. "I'm excited for the opportunity to impact student-athletes both on and off the court and help them grow in every aspect. I'm ready to get to work alongside Coach Powell and the staff and contribute to the continued success of this program.
 
As a player at JMU, Goodman also was part of an NCAA Tournament team in 2023. She was also part of a 2025 squad that made the WBIT quarterfinals and had a 30-win season. In all, Goodman played in 140 games for the Dukes, which is tied for the third most in program history.
 
"I am very happy to have Anna join our staff," said Head Coach Trelanne Powell. "She comes highly recommended by multiple members of the James Madison Women's Basketball Staff. Anna's dedication and hard work over her five-year playing career as well as her graduate apprenticeship, have laid the foundation for a flourishing career in athletics. I'm grateful to be an early champion of her work."
 
Goodman had a key performance off the bench during the Dukes' 2025 run where she scored 13 points in 17 minutes in their semifinal win over Coastal Carolina. She started 43 of her 140 career games at James Madison.
 
The Newport News, Va. native earned her Bachelor's in Health Science in 2024 and finished her Master's in Adult Education and Human Resources in 2026.
 
ABOUT LSU NEW ORLEANS
In July of 2026 the University of New Orleans rejoined the LSU system and rebranded to "LSU New Orleans" bringing together two powerful brands - the purple and gold of LSU with the unbreakable spirit of New Orleans. The transition marks a return to the LSU family for the University - a place it called home from 1958-2011. Athletic teams will remain the Privateers and continue to compete in the Southland Conference.
