Privateers Return Home to Take On Nicholls, McNeese

NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers return home after a lengthy road trip to continue Southland play against the Nicholls Colonels and McNeese Cowgirls. Their match against Nicholls is slated for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The match against McNeese is currently scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The Privateers lost both matches last week to close their four-match road swing that started Southland play. In their last outing, LSU New Orleans pushed Northwestern State to the limit in each set, but fell short in each one, losing 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.

Armie Hall and Ryan Williams each registered 11 kills for the Privateers. Hall had 29 total kills on the week, which included 18 against East Texas A&M. Entering the week, Hall has the fourth most total kills of anyone in the Southland with 196.

As a team, the Privateers are third in the Southland in digs per set with 15.08. They only trail McNeese (16.71) and UIW (15.98) in that category among conference foes. The Privateers are ranked 51st in the nation in digs per set.

Mia Lopez is currently just outside the top 50 nationally as well in digs per set. Lopez is averaging 4.33 digs per set, which ranks fifth among all Southland student-athletes and 51st in the nation.

The Privateers have a 45-36 mark all-time against Nicholls. Last season, the two teams split a pair of meetings with the Privateers winning at home and Nicholls winning in Thibodaux. Against McNeese, the Privateers are 20-38 all-time. Last season in New Orleans, the two sides battled through a five-set contest that went the Cowgirls' way. LSU New Orleans has not beaten McNeese since 2019.
