NEW ORLEANS - The LSU New Orleans cross country teams will kick off the 2026 season across the street from the University Center when they co-host the third annual "Battle for New Orleans" with Tulane on Friday evening at Lake Oaks Park.
Both the Privateer men and women finished in fifth place at last season's meet with scores of 132 points and 128 points.
Five men who ran in last year's meet return.
Landen Juneau finished 33
rd with a time of 16:07.08,
Brandt Blanchard finished 35
th with a time of 16:08.26,
Henry Livingston finished 53
rd with a time of 16:56.68,
Kenneth Cerrato finished 58
th with a time of 17:01.56 and
Grant Young finished 65
th with a time of 18:23.01. All were making their Privateer debuts in the race.
Emma Bourg,
Petra Imre, and
Alexa Daverio return for the Privateer women. Bourg finished 20
th with a personal best of 14:23.14. Imre finished 26
th with a personal best time of 14:29.45. Daverio finished 40
th with a time of 15:03.90 in her Privateer debut.

Trevin LeBouef (Central Lafourche HS),
Ella Narhi (Kingwood HS),
Katelyn Perri (St. Francis HS),
Sophia Perri (St. Francis HS),
Madalynn Salsman (Highland Baptist), and Laya Warren (Mize HS) are all set to make their collegiate debuts on Friday.
The Tulane men won last year's meet with a perfect score of 17, while the Green Wave women won with a total just shy of perfection - 18. Green Wave sophomore Bernard Cheruiyot won the men's race for the second straight year in 14:08.5, and Green Wave freshman Dorcas Naibei won the women's race in 13:31.
Cheruiyot holds the Lake Oaks Park men's 5K record with a time of 14:00.1 set in 2024, and Louisiana's Sophie Daigle holds the women's 4K Lake Oaks Park record with a time of 13:07.0 set in 2022. Best Privateer marks in the event are held by Alexandra Weir (13:23.0 in 2022) and Kolyn Saltzman (14:56.0 in 2022).
Other schools set to race on Friday night include Dillard, Nicholls, LSU, South Alabama, Southeastern and Xavier (Louisiana).
