NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers will have a spirit squad that encompasses both cheer and dance and will be led by new Spirit Coordinator and Dance Coach, Italia Moore.
 
Moore comes to the Lakefront with coaching and dance experience that spans over the last near decade. She was on the New Orleans Pelican dance team from 2023-2024. She has also been in film, television and live performances for productions of Ragtime, The Color Purple and Crazy For You among others.
 
Moore also has an extensive background as a dance team coach. She held that position at Ursuline Academy for five years and most recently, held that same position for the Riverdale Lassies Dance Team.
 
"I'm so excited to step into the Spirit Coordinator role and lead the program through this next chapter," said Moore. "We're rebuilding with a stronger focus on training, growth and competition while continuing to bring energy and school spirit to every game day and across campus. We have a really special opportunity to create something new and establish a program that athletes are proud to be part of."
 
Moore, who graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans, was the founding member and first captain of the Loyola Competitive Dance Team. She has a degree in Public Relations and Music Industry with a minor in Dance.
 
Since 2018, Moore also has been a dance educator since 2018 with a multi-style instruction that includes jazz, contemporary, tap, ballet and technique.
 
ABOUT LSU NEW ORLEANS
In July of 2026 the University of New Orleans rejoined the LSU system and rebranded to "LSU New Orleans" bringing together two powerful brands - the purple and gold of LSU with the unbreakable spirit of New Orleans. The transition marks a return to the LSU family for the University - a place it called home from 1958-2011. Athletic teams will remain the Privateers and continue to compete in the Southland Conference.
