Andrew Fava begins his first season as a full assistant coach on the Lakefront in 2026-27 after serving the previous two seasons as Director of Basketball Operations under Stacy Hollowell.

Fava made his way back to New Orleans – where he won a national championship with Hollowell as a member of the Loyola Wolfpack in 2022 – after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Belmont Abbey University in North Carolina.

During his lone season coaching the Crusaders, the team finished 9-9 in conference play and 12-18 overall. The team finished the season with top-five totals in program history in 3-pointers made (258) and fewest turnovers (379), as well as top-10 totals in defensive rebounds (714), offensive rebounds (273) and assists (421). Senior guard Mason Taylor was named third-team all-conference after averaging 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

“Fav” first linked up with Coach Hollowell at Loyola as a junior transfer for the 2019-20 season. Over the next three seasons, Fava appeared in 65 games with 62 starts for the Wolfpack, averaging 10.7 points, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He made 39.6 percent of his 3-pointers and 85.4 percent of his free throws.

He started all 38 games during the Wolfpack’s 2022 NAIA National Championship season, including a victory over the Privateers at Lakefront Arena that November. During his final season uptown, he was a second-team All-SSAC selection and was a three-time SSAC All-Academic selection during his career.

His 92 made 3-pointers were the 11th-most in the NAIA during the 2021-22 season and the third-most in a single season in school history. His 54 steals during his final season uptown were the 10th-most in school history. His 183 career triples at Loyola were the ninth-most in program history, and he is one of just two former Wolfpack student-athletes to rank inside the school's top 10 while playing fewer than 100 games.

Fava lived his childhood dream as a walk-on member of the Florida Gators men’s basketball team during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He made 13 appearances between 2017 and 2019 for the Gators after originally joining the program as a manager in 2016. He remains part of a unique moment in Gator history - as one of nine different Florida student-athletes to hit a 3 pointer in a single game - a feat only accomplished four times in NCAA history. As a freshman he appeared in the NCAA tournament victory against St. Bonaventure.

Andrew was a multisport athlete at Loyola Blakefield high school, including a three year starter on the Dons boys basketball team. Fava was named All-Baltimore Catholic League honorable mention following both his junior and senior seasons. He was also a four year letterman pitcher on the Dons baseball team, and played a year of high school football as well. 

Fava earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Florida and a Master's degree in Business Administration and Marketing and Communications from Loyola New Orleans.
