NEW ORLEANS – The LSU New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis student-athletes were honored as ITA Academic scholar athletes for the sixth consecutive year and both teams also earned honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The women's tennis team had the highest GPA across all sports at LSU New Orleans with a 3.938. Five of the six student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 for the spring. In the fall 2025 semester, four student-athletes earned a 4.0 and everybody on the team was above a 3.67.
Fleur Sprengers, who earned All-Southland honors in singles, was one of the four student-athletes in women's tennis with a perfect GPA for the year. She was joined by
Danique Vermue,
Nouray Khaled and
Naila Krifa who also achieved that mark in both semesters of the recently completed academic year.
On the men's side, they achieved a 3.91 GPA in the spring. Of the eight men on the roster, five reached a 4.0 GPA for the spring and three men reached that same mark in the fall semester.
Marius Gyllerup and
Jerall Yasin were the two student-athletes who achieved a perfect GPA for the calendar year.
Evgenios Vasilakis, who came to the Lakefront in the spring, notched a 4.0 in his first semester.
Both teams have made it as ITA Academic All-Americans now in every year since 2020. Qualification for being an ITA scholar athlete is achieved when a student-athlete has at least a 3.5 GPA for the academic year. Teams collectively have to earn a 3.2 GPA to earn a team award.
