BOX SCORE
BATON ROUGE – The LSU Tigers (1-0, 0-0 SEC) ran away from the LSU New Orleans Privateers (0-1, 0-0 Southland) 100-57 on opening night at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
An announced crowd of 7,919 saw the Tigers of Baton Rouge control the game from start to finish in Will Wade's return to the LSU bench. LSU used its size to muscle its way to an 18-3 lead at the first media timeout and never looked back.
The Tigers led 53-17 at the break with an eight rebound advantage on the glass and a 34-8 advantage in the paint. They finished the game with a 53-38 advantage in rebounds and a 60-20 advantage in points in the paint.
Yohandry Ortiz led the Privateers in scoring with 16 points, 14 of which came during an active second half for the junior transfer spark plug. Ortiz finished with four made baskets to go with five rebounds. He was also 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Solomon Ominu led the Privateers in rebounds with eight, while freshman
Alan Shi matched Ortiz's five boards. Shi made several high-energy plays throughout the contest to extend Privateer possessions and scored his first career basket with 12 minutes left in the game. The Brookline High School product had the best plus-minus of any Privateer who saw 10 minutes or more of action.
Seven Privateers made their Div. I debuts in the opener:

Walter Campbell (10+ minutes),
