GAME NOTES:  NOLA | LSU

NEW ORLEANS
– A pair of LSU's - the Privateers out of New Orleans and the Tigers out of Baton Rouge - will face off on Tuesday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to start the 57th season of LSU New Orleans basketball.

The Privateers are coming off an 82-72 exhibition victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Oct. 21 in Hattiesburg. Midland College junior transfer Solomon Ominu pulled down 13 rebounds and added nine points to lead the Privateers to victory in his unofficial debut.

Canisius transfer Kahlil Singleton finished with 13 points and three 3-pointers, while Wagner transfer Nick Jones finished the game with a team-high 19 points, three steals and a pair of blocks. Privateer senior Kedrick Osby finished right behind Jones with 18 points, 12 of which came in the second half as the Privateers pulled away from USM.

Louisiana Sports Hall of Famer John Brady has been appointed Special Advisor for Athletic Advancement and Men's Basketball Strategy at LSU New Orleans. Brady - also a member of the Louisiana Basketball Coaches Association and LSU Athletics Hall of Fame - will serve a dual-purpose role at LSU New Orleans.

He will work closely with athletic department administration on identifying fundraising priorities and major gifts, as well as with the basketball program directly to assist with overall program strategy, roster building and long-term performance goals.

As a coach, Brady is known for his successful run as the head coach of the LSU Tigers, starting in 1997 and ending more than a decade later in 2008. Brady won 192 games at LSU, including the 2000 and 2006 SEC championships. During his tenure, the Tigers made the NCAA Tournament in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006, with a Final Four appearance in 2006 and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2000.

Brady isn't the only change on the Privateers' bench this season. Silvey Dominguez and Andrew Fava have been promoted to Associate Head Coach and Chief of Staff. Former Tarleton State head coach Zach Settembre has been hired as the team's new recruiting coordinator. LSU New Orleans Athletics Hall of Famer and former NBA veteran Ervin Johnson has been brought in to coach the big men, and Grant Kemp has been named the team's Director of Operations and Video Coordinator after two seasons on Stacy Hollowell's team.

The Tigers are the Privateers' most-played SEC opponent and hold a 15-4 lead in the series, having won nine straight dating back to 2001. The last Privateer victory at LSU was in 1986 and remains the last Privateer victory on the road against an SEC opponent.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Former two-time Southland Coach of the Year Will Wade has returned to LSU for a second stint after one season at NC State. Wade is looking to improve his all-time record against the Privateers to 6-0. During his prior run at LSU, Wade's Tigers compiled a 105-51 record in five seasons.

LSU went 2-1 during the exhibition part of the schedule. They beat Wade's former team, McNeese, 63-60, and UCF, 85-81, before falling to a talented Florida State team in Tallahassee, 89-87. Among Tigers who played in all three games, former UCLA Bruin Donovan Dent led the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game, while Croatian national freshman Michael Ruzic led the Tigers with 11.7 rebounds per game.
