NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans and Samford dual tennis match came down to one final match on Friday afternoon at the University Tennis Center with the visiting Bulldogs prevailing 4-3, sending the Privateers to their fourth straight defeat.

After Samford (1-5) took the doubles points and UNO (6-4) won 3 of 5 singles' matches, the attention shifted to the No. 3 singles' court where Samford's Carson Kadi rallied from a set down to defeat Ben Smith 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.

Setting the match up were straight sets victories for the Privateers at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles.

Calvin Kemp and Vinay Kamineni won No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Kemp defeated Brian Dushock 6-2, 6-1 while Kamineni defeated Kelwin DeWet 6-4, 6-1. Jose Gaspar picked up the final singles' victory, a 6-4, 6-3 win over Richard Walsh at No. 5, to improve to 6-0 at the position.

Besides the win by Kadi, the Bulldogs' picked up wins at No. 4 with Carlos Abalos and at No. 6 with Oliver Reynolds.

Abalos defeated Guilherme Rebolo 6-3, 6-4 with Reynolds knocking off Oliver Cuthill 6-3, 6-2. The loss for Cuthill was his first in six matches at No. 6.

Doubles' continues to be a problem for the squad, as head coach Burzis Kanga changed up the tandems ahead of their fifth straight doubles' point defeat.

Kamineni and Gaspar posted a win over Walsh and Kadi 8-2 at No. 3 while Reynolds and Abalos picked up a win over Cuthill and Smith 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.

As was the case with singles' later in the day, the doubles' point came to a final match, which saw Dushock and DeWet rally from a 6-4 deficit in the tiebreaker to win the match 9-8 (6), as they won the match's final four points.

Southeastern Louisiana comes to the UTC on Wednesday at 12 p.m. for a make-up of the postponed match against the Privateers, originally scheduled for Feb. 11.
