Privateers Use Big Run Early to Defeat Loyola

NEW ORLEANS ? Bo McCalebb scored 18 points in just 21 minutes of play as host-New Orleans cruised past Loyola-New Orleans 82-51 on Saturday.

Kyndall Dykes, who missed the Privateers' previous two games with an ankle injury, added 17 points in 18 minutes as UNO (5-1) won its fifth game in six outings.

The Privateers used a 22-2 run midway through the first half to improve to 4-0 all-time against NAIA member Loyola (7-2).

Torry Beaulieu had 12 points to pace the Wolfpack.

McCalebb and Dykes combined for 21 points in the first half, as UNO jumped out to a 44-27 lead. The Privateers shot 60 percent during the frame and scored 15 points off 10 Loyola turnovers.

Leading 14-12 at the 11:41 mark, UNO broke the game open with a quick 11-0 spurt to grab a 25-12 lead with 9:37 left. The Privateers stretched the lead to as many as 22 during the frame.

The Privateers scored the first nine points of the second half to make it 53-27. UNO led by as many as 38 midway through the second half.

UNO, which went 2-1 during a three-game homestand, will travel to Colorado on Wednesday.
