UNO Heads to Southern on Tuesday; Game to Air on CST

BATON ROUGE, La. ? The University of New Orleans baseball team will travel to Southern for a 6 p.m. Tuesday contest at Lee-Hines Field.

The game will be televised live on Cox Sports Television and can also be heard locally on WGSO 990 AM. Fans can also listen to the game online at WGSO.com.

The Privateers (22-29) are entering the final week of the regular season and are riding high. UNO jumped into fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference standings after winning their fourth consecutive SBC series this past weekend against Arkansas-Little Rock.

Prior to hosting Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend, the Privateers will focus on a Southern (25-14) squad that handed UNO one of its worst losses of the season in March.

The Jaguars defeated UNO 18-3 on March 24 at Maestri Field. Southern scored 12 runs in the first three innings, with Brad McDavid and James Armstrong combining for eight hits and 12 RBIs.

Sophomore Cory Myers (2-6, 8.39 ERA) will get the start for UNO and will be making his 10th start of the year. It will be just his second start since April 8.

The right-hander has made 15 appearances, though he has struggled since a strong seven-inning performance in a March 22 win at South Alabama.

Sophomore outfielder Jay Morris leads the Privateers with a .360 average, while junior Alan Harris is hitting .338 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs. Junior Nick Schwaner is hitting .333 with a team-best 12 home runs and 51 RBIs.

The Jaguars are preparing for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, which SU is hosting next week. Head coach Roger Cador's squad has won five of its last seven games after splitting a doubleheader at Grambling State on May 2.

The Jaguars have not announced a Tuesday starter.
